  Auto Control

The Auto Control and Auto Control Plus programs are designed to assist the convicted impaired driver to make some changes in their life style in order to reduce the probability that they will drive while impaired in the future. The Auto Control program is designed for persons convicted of a first impaired driving offence while the Auto Control Plus program is designed to assist persons convicted of repeat impaired driving offences. These program not only teach participants about the alcohol and its effects on behavior, but also attempts to teach participants how to influence their own behavior through psychological self management techniques and cognitive behavior modification procedures. Both programs also assist participants in determining the effects of alcohol on each of the important life areas.

Areas of Research

The Center has a program of research to reduce the incidence of impaired driving. Research has also been conducted on determining the percentage of convicted impaired drivers that continue to drive while suspended.
